Malaysia has progressively become a popular destination for higher studies. The number of international students is expected to increase to 200,000 students by 2020.
To obtain a Malaysian student visa, you will need to apply for a Student Pass. After a provisional Student Pass is issued, a student visa upon point of entry into Malaysia is given. A full Student Pass will be granted once inside the country.
To apply for student pass, the documents outlined below must be provided. Your institution will then submit these to the Malaysian Immigration department on your behalf.
– An official letter of acceptance from your host institution
– A completed Student Pass application form
– Academic certificates/transcripts
– A copy of your passport data page (name/age/face etc)
– Two passport sized photo
– Proof of full-time course of study approved by the Minister of Home Affairs
– Proof of purchase of Malaysian Health Insurance
– A photocopy of your medical health examination report
– Proof of English language proficiency
– Proof of financial capability to meet course and other expenses
– A Personal Bond document that has been signed by your host institution
A Student Pass is valid for a year and its renewal is subject to class attendance requirements and proof of course selection for the following semester.
